But I just don't see a path forward for either a remake to Trigger or a sequel to Cross. Any Chrono release is a day-one, preorder, stand in line for 24 hours before release, to hell with the wife and kids (OK, one of those is false) buy for me. I won't say it's impossible, but I think it is far more likely, if not an absolute certainty, that any sequel will not deliver on the expectations the series has set for itself.ĭon't get me wrong. To then make a game that has to follow the (again, great game) chaotic story of Cross, I just don't see how there can be a very satisfying continuation of the series. They're much more distant cousins than they are siblings. Like Green said above, Cross, while being a great game in its own right, is very loosely and confusingly tied to Trigger. I don't think it's overly controversial to say that Trigger is the high point of the series. I'll risk sounding like a cantankerous old man, but I think that the ship has sailed on any sort of substantial continuation of the Chrono Series. While another sequel is IMO the least bad option, I still think it's a pretty crap option.
